Vintage 50s Zoology School Chart Rodents

Vintage 50s zoology school chart

An authentic vintage pull-down school chart featuring a reproduction of an original zoological illustration by the renowned German artist and publisher J.F. Schreiber. The chart features detailed naturalistic depictions of several rodents, including a beaver, field mouse, house mouse and wild rat.

Beautifully illustrated with exceptional attention to detail, this educational chart combines scientific accuracy with the decorative quality of traditional natural-history illustration. Originally intended as a teaching aid, it offers a fascinating glimpse into the visual culture of mid-20th century education while preserving the charm of Schreiber’s earlier zoological artwork.

Today, it would make a striking decorative piece for a vintage interior, study, library, classroom, cabin, or rustic setting. It is particularly appealing to collectors of educational antiques and natural-history memorabilia, as well as anyone with an appreciation for vintage zoological illustration.

After approximately 50 years, the chart remains in good vintage condition and displays minor age-related signs of use and storage, consistent with its history as an educational display item. Over the decades, the paper has developed a beautiful natural patina, adding to its authentic character and visual appeal. Please examine the photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description and condition report.
