Antique WWI French Chasseurs Sidi-Brahim ID Bracelet

Antique 1910s WWI French military ID bracelet
This antique identity bracelet dates from the First World War and features the hunting horn (cor de chasse), emblem of the French chasseurs, together with the name “Sidi-Brahim”. This refers to the 1845 battle in French Algeria, where a small force of chasseurs made a legendary stand. The battle became the proudest tradition of the chasseurs, and is still commemorated by them every year. A distinctive piece of French military memorabilia from the Great War, made for a soldier of these elite light infantry units.
Normally, the back of the plate would be engraved with the soldier’s identity, but on this bracelet, the back has remained blank. Whether it was never issued, kept as a spare or simply never engraved, its owner remains a mystery, leaving room for your own imagination.
With its military history and understated design, this bracelet would make a unique addition to a collection of First World War memorabilia, or a distinctive piece to wear as part of a personal jewelry collection. With its blank back, it could even be engraved with a name or date of your own.
After more than a century, the bracelet remains in good antique condition, showing authentic signs of age and use. Over the years, it has developed a lovely patina that, in my opinion, only adds to its character and appeal.
