Vintage 1950s French Leather Canadienne Coat
This leather coat was made in France in the 1950s. Known as a Canadienne, named after the coats of Canadian woodsmen and trappers, this classic French design was made to withstand harsh winter conditions and was also worn by the French army. It features a warm sheepskin lining and collar, combining practical cold-weather protection with a timeless, rugged appearance. Both sleeves and both sides of the waist are fitted with leather buckle straps.
Not only is it a comfortable and warm winter coat, but its sturdy construction and distinctive design also give it plenty of character. A great piece for anyone who appreciates traditional workwear and vintage outerwear.
After around 70 years, the coat remains in worn vintage condition, showing multiple signs of age and use. Over the decades, the leather has developed a lovely patina that only adds to its character and appeal. Please note that two of the front buttons have been replaced, and there is a small cut in the leather on the back of the right shoulder, which does not go all the way through.
